• After earning the Thunder Force 3 „Finalist” Award, our company was contacted by Vanillaware, a well known game development company in Japan, looking to bring a Thunder Force game to the market for the Sega Genesis.
• We were excited by the prospect of working with this company and its talented staff, including character designer Yukio Futatsugi, graphic artist Toshio LaBeach, and composer, Kenji Kawai.
Thunder Force II – The Dark Star Knight is the first Japanese Thunder Force game for the Genesis. The game features upgrades and additions to the Thunder Force 1 and Thunder Force 3 gameplay mechanics, a vibrant world with detailed backgrounds, and an awesome soundtrack. After completing the Thunder Force III „Finalist” Award, we were pleased to continue our long-standing relationship with Sega by combining our Thunder Force expertise with their Thunder Force talent to create this game.
The Game’s Visual and Sound Artistry:
The biggest artistic challenge we faced in developing the game was the hybridity of the fighting game mechanics that we developed for Thunder Force III, and the cartoon-like graphics and gameplay that we developed for Thunder Force 1 and Thunder Force 3. Overcoming this challenge, we were able to provide a dramatic entertainment experience that incorporates animation, the excitement of the Thunder Force series, and a realistic, stylized feel. Our goal was to create a Thunder Force game that incorporates the latest Thunder Force game mechanics and graphics, while still being accessible for the players who grew up with the Thunder Force series.
Furthermore, we wanted to create a Thunder Force game that can be enjoyed by a wide variety of players. That’s why we designed the game such that you can enjoy the same great gameplay that you saw in Thunder Force III, but at the same time, enjoy the pure, elegant, and new gameplay design elements that we developed for the Thunder Force 1 and Thunder Force 3 games, while also having a life-like and stylized look.

FootRock2 VR is an original and exciting physics puzzle game. You’ll need to make sure you don’t trip over anything.
