previously i had the rns 510 firmware 5269 but ran into the same problem of the unit crashing when the auto part of the installation was halted with the ignition off. the reason being that the home part of the installation was not set to a specific date but it was ok for the factory fitment as my local maps were good. the only downside was the slow upload of the navigation database to the rns510. often the images would end up being downloaded at 20kbps rather than the 30kbps of my ipod touch. today i changed to the rns510 firmware 5274 as i found that the 5269 had some odd problems with file overwriting even though the settings of the 5269 indicated no such restriction. no problems downloading my new navigation database as there was plenty of space. the unit updated all the way through without error. and again for the first time i can operate my unit without the ignition on, as it always used to be and never before the 5274 was released.

the beauty of the rns510 setup is that the unit can be run without the ignition on at a minimum. with the ignition on the unit can be reset or rebooted numerous times without loss of information. and all that without having to worry about losing all the music and the data associated with it. nice setup but i don’t think i want to repartition either

i have downloaded firmware h05 and try to upgrade it and the following message appears: this device has an invalid firmware upgrade. make sure the upgrade is supported by the firmware and use the latest version. i download the previous version h05v3 but it is not compatible with my rns510, what do you think i do?
